Featuring a combination of live & studio tracks, "Live & Otherwise"
continues with all new additions to Robert Kramers' ever-increasing
musical catalog. Bringing in the talents of various musicians from stage
and studio, Roberts' collection of funk-rock, jazz, novelty, and ballads
with touching emotional audio commentary guides the listener thru
various moods and emotions which inspired these tunes. Reviewers have
called him "the return of the classic songwriter", and the depth of lyric
and melody contained here only reinforces that concept.
The first three tracks were recorded live at the world-famous
Fitzgeralds Nightclub in Berwyn, Illinois. Featured vocalist Val
Leventhal assists on harmonies with Becca Kaufman and Nanette
Frank.
"Ghost In My House", the studio version of one of the favorite
novelty tunes among Kramer fans is offered here complete with creaking
doors, old-time megaphone vocals, guitar by Kerry Ewald, and an
infectious jazzy New Orleans-styled soprano sax courtesy of Chuck
Thomas.
"My Mystery", a jazz-styled duet sung by Robert and Dimension One
recording artist Val Leventhal, delivering the thoughtful and pain-filled
dialog of two former lovers that tell of the regrets of a broken
relationship, a failed marriage, and the journey thru an empty, quiet
house that was once a home.
"Soldier" is an acoustic ballad that was written about and dedicated to
the passing of Roberts' father. A powerful live reworking of Sting's
popular hit single "If You Love Somebody, Set Them Free" follows.
The final track on the album, "Smoke-Filled Room" is a studio track,
but with some added effects to simulate the mood of a bar around 4am,
ready to close up for the night as the vocalist delivers his final song of the
